Корпорация защиты инвесторов в ценные бумаги (США): некоммерческая организация, созданная Конгрессом в 1970 г. по Закону о защите инвесторов в ценные бумаги при участии правительства для страхования средств клиентов в руках брокерских фирм - членов корпорации на случай банкротства последних; членами корпорации должны быть все зарегистрированные фондовые брокеры и дилеры; компенсация не может превышать 500 тыс. долл. (в т. ч. до 100 тыс. наличными); средства получаются от членских взносов и дохода от инвестиций, а также от кредитной линии от Казначейства; не имеет надзорных функций и не помогает брокерам, испытывающим трудности; пять из семи управляющих назначаются президентом, другие - Казначейством и ФРС; Корпорация не защищает инвесторов от рыночного риска;
